FAQs

SIZING & PERSONALISATION

How do I choose my size?

We recommend measuring your wrist, and adding 1cm to that measurement for a snug fitted look or 1.5cm for a slightly relaxed fit. If the bracelet is a gift and you are unable to measure their wrist, we recommend sizing up if in doubt.

What is a standard wrist size in Australia?

Heartstrings are made to order, which allows you to custom-size your bracelet to suit every body size and shape. We encourage customers to take a measurement where possible.

According to some guides an average wrist circumference for a female is approximately 15.2cm and the average for a male is 17.4cm. Wrist size generally increases with age or height. Most people fall in the range of 1-2cm either side of averages. Add 1.5cm to wrist circumference when selecting bracelet size.

Can I resize my bracelet if it doesn’t fit?

We want you to be happy with your Heartstring. If you’ve ordered the wrong size we are happy to resize it for you at no extra cost, as long as the bracelet is in its original condition and packaging, and customer pays all shipping costs.

What can I get on my bracelet?

Bracelets can be personalised with any combination of letters, numbers (new!), spacer beads, and love heart beads in the bead colour/letter colour options offered for that product. Symbols are not currently available. Please note heart beads are not available in black/silver. Numbers are not available in any silver lettering or black/gold.

JEWELLERY CARE

How do I take care of my Heartstring?

Do not sleep in your bracelet. It can roll up the arm at night and strain fibre.

Sterling silver by nature oxidises over time if exposed to harsh environments. Store bracelet in its polishing bag.

Whilst jewellery is waterproof and can be worn in shower, for longevity we recommend removing before bathing or cleaning where possible.

Our jewellery is made of the highest quality US metal beads, charms, and acrylic beads. 14k gold filled beads will not tarnish when cared for properly. Lettering on beads is painted and will begin to fade if immersed repeatedly in water or harsh chemicals, particularly metallic lettering.

Jewellery is constructed with high quality stretch fiber that maintains its shape. Best practice is to put bracelet over the fingers and roll up the hand and on to the wrist. Never stretch to put on.

MATERIALS

What is 14k gold filled and why do you use it instead of gold plating?

Gold filled beads have multiple thick layers of pure gold wrapped around them, bonded with heat to high quality brass. The higher percentage of pure gold means it will not fade, unlike gold plate which tarnishes over a short period of time. Gold plates jewellery is cheaper but has no longevity. For that reason we only use top quality US manufactured 14k gold filled beads.

What is sterling silver?

Sterling silver is a precious metal. It contains 92.5 percent pure silver. The remaining percentage is copper to give the jewellery strength without compromising its colour, as pure silver is too soft to hold shape. We use top quality US manufactured sterling silver beads in our jewellery.

What is stainless steel?

Stainless steel is an iron alloy with high luster and durability. It is extremely hard wearing- being corrosion and scratch resistant- with the added bonus of also being hypoallergenic.
